| Competa
is located one hours drive north east of Malaga. Malaga
Nerja Competa Map. It clings to the mountain 650 meters above
sea level. Approximately 3.500 people live here. On a clear day,
one can sometimes observe the Rif mountains of Africa. Competa is
surrounded by national park. The Sierra´s Tejeda and Almijara
soar into the sky to an altitude of 2.000 meters. |

ten minutes walking you can escape to a beautiful and peaceful environment.
Normally the only life that one encounters in the hills are the
goat herds and wild animals and birds. This is why this area attracts
so many walkers, artists, photographers, poets and writers. People
find a spirituality here that inspires. You can re-awaken your soul.

Competa
is for anyone who enjoys a stimulating, atmospheric and exciting
environment. The main plaza is where people meet to laugh or cry
or share the important moments in their lives. One can sit in the
café and exchange the latest news or watch the weddings, funerals
or religious processions take place. It is the nerve centre of the
village. |

| Eating
is affordable here. The village has many restaurants, bars and lively
cafes. The local muscatel grape enriches the local Vino de Competa,
renowned in Andalusia for it's potency and quality. There is an
indoor market in the main square which sells fish, meat, fruits
and vegetables. Three Panadarias selling a variety of fresh breads,
pastries and cakes. Two swimming pools, a tennis
court, a playground for children and a discotheque for the teenagers.
There are local riding stables where horses and mules can be hired
at a reasonable cost. This is challenging countryside for mountain
bike riding, particularly in the local national reserve.
