My continuing relationship with art dates back to the 1970's where I worked in music publishing in London/New York. I co-ordinated and commisioned photography, design and promotional graphic material for both publicity and publication, which contributed to and developed a continuing awareness and exploration of visual images.
The move to Competa. Spain in 1983, which was then a crucible of writers, artists, photographers and poets, proved to be fundamental in my development. I assimilated many influences in the theory and practice of creative work.
I am influenced both by the power of the mountains and the sea, the ever changing light, shape and colour. The abstract ink/water colour paintings are from my imagination. I also have a curiosity for the past and how the Spanish people lived. The oil paintings depict my friends and neighbours who live in the village and work on the land.
